Tax Avoidance SchemesThe practice was formed in 1993 by its owner Roy Lyness. Roy Qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1988 having studied by correspondence course. He has a background in Private industry having worked for British Steel and Tarmac plc but always had a great desire to run his own Accountancy Practice working with owner managed businesses. Initially the Practice was built on the basis of personal contact with Roy but it grew quickly and it became apparent to Roy that in order to provide great customer service he had to ensure the Practice could run independently of him, as business owner, and so that’s what he set out to do. This was really as a result of being introduced to the concepts of Michael Gerber and after attending an incredibly powerful business seminar entitled ‘Making Your Business Really Fly’ this had such an impact on Roy that he still to this day runs the seminar 4 times a year for his business clients. The practice joined initially Results Accountants Systems a worldwide association of independant Accountants, known as RAS and in 2001 Roy was voted Sole Practitioner of the Year because of the results he had achieved for his clients. In 2003 the practice joined AVN Accountants who provide similar resources to the Practice but from a UK base and subsequently became the first firm to be voted AVN Firm of the Year for 2 years running in 2004 and 2005, again because of the phenomenal results the clients were getting as a result of the concepts introduced to them. Lyness Accountancy are the only Accountancy Practice to be Investors in People Champions. Although the organisation boasts some 70,000 firm holding the standard only 38 have champion status, a role that sees them mentor other firms towards the standard. That was closely followed by being amongst the first firms in the Midlands to receive the kite mark of quality from their professional association and receiving the Best in the Black Country customer service award an award given across all trade and industry. Today Roy is also a director of Peak Performance a nationwide association of accountants and mentors many of the members in both the development of their own accountancy practices and the provision of taxation services. |
